We are reaching out with an exciting opportunity to support students in our community by serving as a preceptor at the upcoming National TRIO Day at Moreno Valley College on Saturday, February 22, from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
SCCO is seeking one optometrist to precept a group of 6-7 optometry students as they conduct vision screenings at this event. Please note that the role of the optometrist is to supervise and guide the students—not to perform exams directly.
Key Details for Volunteers:
✅ How many ODs are needed? Only one OD is needed.
✅ How many students will they be precepting? 6-7 students.
✅ What will be done at the screenings? Students will conduct vision screenings with entrance testing. Those who fail the screening will be referred to the refraction station, where Power of Sight will provide glasses. No dilation or ocular health exams will be performed.
✅ What equipment is needed? Volunteers do not need to bring any equipment—Power of Sight will provide phoropters and all necessary tools.
✅ How to volunteer? If you’re interested, please email Christine Castañon at [email protected] to confirm your participation.
This is a great opportunity to support optometry students while making a meaningful impact on the community. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
Thank you for your time and support!
